SUMMARY:Live CLE Webinar: Next Stop- Biomechanics of Public Transit Bus Incidents
DESCRIPTION:Webinar Sponsored by: \n\n \nFree for ADLA Members \n11:30 am – 12:30 pm Central Time \nIf you use Outlook Calendar\, please double-check that the event is saved in Central Standard Time (CST) to avoid any scheduling confusion. \nSpeaker: Eric Parigoris\, Ph.D.\, P.E.\, Managing Engineer – Biomechanics \nBrief Course Description: Transit-related incidents often raise challenging questions about what happened\, what forces were involved\, and whether the claimed injuries can reasonably be explained by the event. Whether the circumstances involve a passenger who loses balance during a routine bus maneuver\, a bus collision\, or a pedestrian interaction with a transit vehicle\, these cases frequently involve competing accounts that can be examined through a biomechanical lens. This presentation explores how biomechanics\, vehicle dynamics\, and human kinematics can be used to reconstruct events\, assess injury mechanisms\, and better understand the connection between an event and the claimed injuries. Through real-world examples\, attendees will see how experts analyze movement\, interpret physical evidence\, apply the laws of motion to complex transportation events\, and present the results in ways that are clear as well as correct. The biomechanical analyses are often applicable to similar situations involving shuttle buses\, school buses\, and motorcoaches. Participants will leave with a practical understanding of how biomechanics can help answer some of the most important questions in bus-related injury claims. \nThis course or a portion thereof has been approved by the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Commission of Alabama for a maximum of 1 hours’ credit.
