Presenters:

Andrew Pettit, P.E., is the Regional Manager of the Atlanta office of Delta |v| Forensic Engineering and a licensed Professional Engineer specializing in accident reconstruction. With five years of experience investigating motor‑vehicle incidents, Andrew focuses primarily on commercial vehicle collisions but regularly works on a wide range of automotive cases. He frequently testifies as an expert witness in the field of accident reconstruction and has developed a particular interest in the rapidly advancing area of video-based analysis. As camera systems become increasingly common, Andrew has made it a personal and professional passion to study how video is captured, stored, and analyzed to support accurate collision reconstruction.

James Ryan, BS, M.Ed., is a Senior Associate Engineer who has worked with DELTA |v| Forensic Engineering since 2022 as part of the Nashville team. He earned both his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Master of Education from the University of Notre Dame.

Known for his analytical mindset and strong communication skills, James effectively bridges technical concepts with practical application. James brings a unique blend of technical expertise and teaching experience, having taught high school Physics and Latin for two years. He is a founding member of Notre Dame’s LEGO Club, a certified Bosch CDR Tool Technician, and holds a Remote Pilot License. James has recently passed his exam in pursuit of licensure as a PE in the coming months.

Brief Course Description:

This presentation discusses potential video sources and video analysis methodology used in collision reconstruction. It covers the identification and evaluation of available video sources, the use and reliability of specialized forensic video analysis software, and techniques for interpreting video footage.

This course or a portion thereof has been approved by the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Commission of Alabama for a maximum of 1 hours’ credit.
