Speaker: Fred Campagna, CCM, CBM
Brief Course Description:
As courts have become reluctant to admit meteorological testimony from non-weather experts who use automated weather data, we provide an overview of the scientific process used by forensic meteorologists to investigate weather, water, and climate hazard claims. Forensic meteorologists can then deliver this analysis in the form of written and sworn spoken testimony. This course will also discuss the types of claims most commonly addressed using forensic meteorology.
Fred Campagna is Director of Forensic Meteorology for Haag, a Salas O’Brien Company. Mr. Campagna has worked on hundreds of cases as a forensic and consulting meteorologist since 2012. He has provided expert witness testimony in civil and criminal cases in multiple states. Prior to becoming the Director of Forensic Meteorology, Mr. Campagna was an on-air meteorologist with 26 years’ experience in Atlanta, Boston, and throughout the Northeast.
Mr. Campagna’s certifications include American Meteorological Society’s Certified Consulting Meteorologist designation, September 2020, and American Meteorological Society’s Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation in March 2006. He was awarded American Meteorological Society’s Television Seal of Approval, among numerous other honors and awards.
